Your journey begins with your arrival in Tanzania, where you'll be met at Kilimanjaro International Airport by your safari team. After arrival, you'll be transferred to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi for an overnight stay. This day is reserved for resting after your flight, ensuring that you’re well-prepared for the trek ahead. Hotel in Arusha or Moshi

  • Day 1: Lemosho Glades to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,750m/9,020ft)

After breakfast, you'll be driven from your hotel to the Lemosho Gate, the start of the trek. The hike begins with a walk through the lush rainforest, where you'll witness a variety of flora and fauna. The day’s trek is relatively gentle, taking about 3-4 hours, and you'll reach Mti Mkubwa Camp for your overnight stay. The hike allows you to begin acclimatizing to the altitude while enjoying the peaceful surroundings of the mountain's lower slopes.

  • Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp (3,610m/11,850ft)

On this day, the trek continues through the rainforest and opens up into moorland, with expansive views of the mountain ahead. The hike takes about 5-6 hours. Along the way, you’ll have opportunities to spot wildlife, including birds and monkeys. As you ascend to Shira 1 Camp, you’ll be gaining altitude gradually, which helps with acclimatization. The camp offers stunning views of Kilimanjaro’s summit.

  • Day 3: Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp (3,850m/12,630ft)

After breakfast, you’ll trek from Shira 1 to Shira 2 Camp. This is a shorter day, with the trek taking around 4-5 hours. The path passes across the Shira Plateau, offering panoramic views of the mountain and surrounding landscape. The altitude will continue to increase, giving you a chance to adjust to the high-altitude environment. At Shira 2 Camp, you’ll have time to rest and prepare for the more challenging days ahead.

  • Day 4: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp (3,960m/12,992ft)

Today’s hike takes about 6-7 hours, and you’ll begin your ascent through the alpine desert zone. You'll pass through the Lava Tower (4,630m/15,190ft), which is a significant landmark of Kilimanjaro. After crossing the tower, the trail descends to Barranco Camp, which is nestled below the Barranco Wall. This altitude gain and loss is beneficial for acclimatization, as it allows your body to adjust to the higher elevation.

  • Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp (4,035m/13,238ft)

This day is characterized by the famous Barranco Wall, which you’ll climb before continuing on a 4-5 hour hike to Karanga Camp. The Barranco Wall is a non-technical climb, but it offers a great challenge and gives trekkers a sense of accomplishment when they reach the top. Once at Karanga Camp, you will be surrounded by stunning views and the feeling of being closer to the summit.

  • Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (4,640m/15,223ft)

On this day, you’ll trek for about 4-5 hours to reach Barafu Camp, the base camp before your summit day. The hike will take you through rocky terrain and a sparse alpine desert landscape. After reaching Barafu Camp, you will have an early dinner and rest in preparation for the midnight summit attempt. This is a crucial day to hydrate and get as much rest as possible before the final ascent.

  • Day 7: Barafu Camp to Summit (Uhuru Peak - 5,895m/19,341ft) to Mweka Camp (3,100m/10,170ft)

This is the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek. You’ll start around midnight for the final ascent to the summit. The hike to Uhuru Peak takes about 6-8 hours, depending on your pace. The trail is steep, and temperatures can be extremely cold, but the incredible sense of accomplishment when reaching the summit is unmatched. After taking in the breathtaking views from Uhuru Peak, you’ll begin your descent to Mweka Camp, where you’ll spend your final night on the mountain. The descent takes around 4-5 hours, and at Mweka Camp, you’ll enjoy a celebratory dinner before resting.

  • Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate (1,640m/5,380ft) - Departure

On the final day, you’ll descend to Mweka Gate, a 3-4 hour walk through the lush forest. Once at the gate, you’ll sign out and receive your certificates for completing the trek. From there, you’ll be transferred back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha for a well-deserved rest and celebration.
